My two brothers and I started Spread the Swell about seven years ago, back in 2012, at the dinner table. Having worked at a surf camp for several years, we recognized the incredible cost for a week of high quality surf instruction. Further, spending our summers in the South County of Rhode Island, an economically disparate region, we recognized how fortunate we were. With all that in mind, the ethos for Spread the Swell was formed—a free, non-profit surf camp for underprivileged kids in Rhode Island. We reached out to the local community and found ourselves in the middle of a support net of fellow surfers, local businesses, and friends. We’ve come a long way since then, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
